Terms of service

These terms are the small print of using Aethelred. They exist so that if something goes sideways, both of us know where we stand.

1. Who we are

Aethelred (referred to below as "we", "us", "our") is a curated e-commerce archive operated from Australia. All contact runs through hello@aethelred.shop. By placing an order or subscribing to our list, you agree to these terms.

2. Products and descriptions

We source objects from ateliers, small workshops, and trusted global suppliers. Every product page reflects our best understanding of the piece at the time it was written. Colours, textures, and materials shown in photographs are indicative — natural materials vary, and screens render colour differently.

We reserve the right to correct pricing errors, refuse orders that appear to be resellers or fraudulent, and remove products from the archive without notice.

3. Pricing and payment

All prices are listed in USD and are exclusive of any duties, taxes, or shipping fees that may apply to your destination. Payment is processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Any 10% welcome codes or promotional codes are single-use and non-transferable.

4. Shipping timeframes

Because our objects come from ateliers across several time zones, shipping timeframes vary. Standard international delivery is 7–21 business days from dispatch. We'll email tracking when the parcel is on its way. If a parcel is materially late, get in touch and we'll investigate with the carrier.

Import duties and taxes are the recipient's responsibility. Refusal to accept a parcel due to unpaid duties will not entitle you to a refund of the original shipping.

5. Returns and refunds

Our returns policy is set out on the Returns & refunds page and is incorporated into these terms by reference.

6. Newsletter and communication

Subscribing to our list means you consent to receiving occasional emails from us — order confirmations, dispatch notes, and roughly one editorial dispatch per sabbat. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or writing to our address above.

7. Intellectual property

The Aethelred name, the editorial writing, the photography and its staging, the site design, and the sabbat almanac content are ours. You're welcome to link to any page. You may not copy, republish, or resell content without written permission.

8. Limits

We do our best but we don't guarantee the site will be uninterrupted or free of errors. To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you for anything arising from the use of the site is limited to the amount you paid for the affected order.

Nothing in these terms limits any non-excludable rights you have under Australian Consumer Law, the UK Consumer Rights Act, the EU Consumer Rights Directive, or equivalent local law in your country.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute that can't be resolved by writing to us first will be handled by the courts of that jurisdiction — unless your local consumer law gives you the right to sue closer to home, in which case that right stands.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update this page from time to time. Material changes will be flagged at the top. Continuing to use the site or place orders after a change means you've accepted the revised version.
